Cocoon stitch: it’s a FP puff st but with a little change, make sure to read the instructions.

We’ll learn how to do the cocoon st first then I’ll show you how to use it in rows for blankets, clothes or anything you like.
The cocoon st is a FP puff stitch (YO 4 times) without doing the last step of normal puff sts.

Directions
How to make the Cocoon Stitch
To make the cocoon st we crochet rows of dc and rows of sc alternating between them.
We make the cocoon st in the sc rows.
Crochet sc as usual until it says make a cocoon st.
To make the cocoon st follow next steps.
Insert the hook next st as usual, YO and pull through. (Pic 1)
[YO, insert the hook FP same st, YO and pull through] repeat 4 times. (Pic 2, 3)
YO and pull through all loops on the hook. (Pic 4)
Do not make the last ch that we usually do in normal puff st.
Complete sc as usual. (Pic 5)

How to make Cocoon st in rows
R 1: Number of chains multiples of 6 then add one ch, dc 3rd ch, dc each ch.
R 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 2 sts, cocoon st, *sc in each of next 5 sts, cocoon st* repeat until you have only 2 sts left, sc in each one of them.
R 3: Ch 2 (does not count as st), turn, dc in each st.
R 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 5 sts, *cocoon st, sc in each of next 5 sts* repeat until the end of the row.
R 5: Ch 2 (does not count as st), turn, dc in each st.
Remaining rows: Repeat from row 2 to 5 until you have the size you like. FO and weave in ends.
