Crochet doily coasters with simple and elegant design. You’ll notice that it has a lot of large gaps and spaces that give it lightness as well as elegance. If you’re familiar with the art of tatting you’ll notice that this coasters have a very similar look to it. Luckily it’s very easy to make, all you need to know is the basics. I suggest you use a thin cotton yarn/thread for these coasters (read the materials below). You’ll need one color for the coaster.
Skill level: Easy / Intermediate
I used 1 mm thick cotton yarn with 2 mm crochet hook (try using something similar for same results, about 1-2 mm thick yarn)
MR – Magic ring
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
I used the invisible slip stitch/invisible join at the end of the pattern. You can use the regular slip stitch join.
R 1: MR, 12 sc in the ring. Sl st in first sc. (12 sc)
Note: The MR will not close completely because there are a lot of stitches (12) and that is normal.
R 2: *Ch 5, skip next st, sl st next st* repeat 6 times. (6 chain spaces)
R 3: *6 sc next chain space* repeat 6 times. Sl st next st. (36 sc)
R 4: Ch 3 (count as dc), ch 5, skip next 2 sts, sc next st, ch 5. *Skip next 2 sts, dc next st, ch 5, skip next 2 sts, sc next st, ch 5* repeat 5 times. Sl st in 3rd ch from the beginning chains. (12 chain spaces)
R 5: *5 sc next chain space* repeat 12 times. Sl st next st. (60 sc)
R 6: Sl st next 2 sts, ch 6. *Skip next 4 sts, sc next st, ch 6* repeat 11 times. Sl st in 2nd sl st from the beginning. (12 chain spaces)
R 7: *9 sc next chain space* repeat 12 times. Sl st next st. (108 sc)
R 8: Sl st next 4 sts, ch 7. *Skip next 8 sts, sc next st, ch 7* repeat 11 times. Sl st in 4th sl st from the beginning. (12 chain spaces)
R 9: *11 sc next chain space* repeat 12 times. Sl st next st (or use the invisible join). FO. (132 sc)
