Crochet Hat Using Small Zigzag Stitch – Resizable

Crochet Hat - Raam Crochet

Today I’ll be sharing this cute crochet hat using zigzag stitch that I designed recently. It’s not the regular zigzag stitch but a very simple one. It gave’s the hat an outer seams around it. In addition to that, you can make this hat in any size you like using any sizing chart as you’ll see.

Directions:

Part one: The crown.

End of part one

End of part one

In this part we’ll be crocheting round of double crochet and round of little zigzag stitch alternately, increasing each time we crochet the double crochet round as we usually do in normal rounds.

Rnd 1: MR, ch 3 (count as dc), 11 dc. Sl st in 3rd ch from the hook, mark the sl st. (12 dc)

Rnd 2: *Sl st FL next st, ch 1* repeat until the end of the round, making sure the last repeat is in the st we marked. Sl st both loops in first sl st in this round.

Rnd 3: We’ll be using the BL that we left behind in the previous round. Sl st BL next st, ch 3 (count as dc), dc same BL, 2 dc BL in each st until the end of the round. Sl st 3rd ch, mark the sl st. (24 dc)

Rnd 4: Repeat round 2.

Rnd 5: We’ll be using the BL that we left behind in the previous round. Sl st BL next st, ch 3 (count as dc), dc same BL, dc BL next st, *2 dc BL, dc BL* repeat until the end of the round. Sl st 3rd ch, mark the sl st. (36 dc)

Remaining rnds: Repeat round 4 and 5 alternately make sure to increase in each dc round as we normally do, until you reach the crown size you need.

Part tow: The sides.

We’ll use same technique as part one but without increasing in the dc rounds.

Rnd 1: *Sl st FL next st, ch 1* repeat until the end of the round, making sure the last repeat is in the st we marked. Sl st both loops in first sl st in this round.

Rnd 2: We’ll be using the BL that we left behind in the previous round. Sl st BL next st, ch 3 (count as dc), dc BL in each st. Sl st 3rd ch, mark the sl st.

Remaining rnds: Repeat round 1 and 2 of part two until you reach the hat length minus 2″. We’ll use the remaining 2″ to make the brim.

Part three: The brim.

We’ll use the FPdc in this part.

Rnd 1: *Sl st FL next st, ch 1* repeat until the end of the round, making sure the last repeat is in the st we marked. Sl st both loops in first sl st in this round.

Rnd 2: We’ll be using the BL that we left behind in the previous round. Sl st BL next st, ch 3 (count as dc), 12 dc2tog distributed evenly in this round and make dc BL in remaining sts. Sl st 3rd ch.

Rnd 3: Ch 3 (count as dc), FPdc next st, *dc, FPdc* repeat until the und of the round. Sl st 3rd ch.

Remaining rnds: Repeat round 3 of part three until you reach the length of the hat. Make invisible sl st to join at the end or the normal sl st. FO and weave in ends.

Finishing:

You can decorate the hat with flowers. I’ll share the pattern for the flowers you see in the pics soon.
