In this pattern I’ll be sharing this crochet mini school backpack that I know you’ll love. I was shopping the other day and sow those nice school backpacks when I decide to crochet a mini one.

Size: Free
Materials:
– Use thin yarn/thread with suitable crochet hook for best results. You need two colors of your choice.
– I used 1 mm thick cotton yarn with 2 mm hook.
– Needle for weaving in ends and sewing parts.
Terms:
MR – Magic ring
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
Notes:
This pattern will contain two parts, the backpack and the lid with the shoulders straps.
Directions:
The backpack:
R 1: Use color 1. MR, ch 3 (count as dc), 11 dc in the ring. Close the ring, sl st 3rd ch. (12 dc)
R 2: Ch 3 (count as as dc), dc same st, 2 dc each st around. Sl st 3rd ch. (24 dc)
R 3 – 6: Use color 2. Ch 3 (count as dc), dc in each st around. Sl st 3rd ch. FO. (24 dc)
The lid and shoulders straps:
Row 1: Use color 2. Ch 3, sc 2nd ch from the hook, sc next st. (2 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc next 2 sts. (4 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc next st, sc next 2 sts, 2 sc next st. (6 sc)
Row 4 – 7: Ch 1, turn, sc each st. (6 sc)
Do not FO. Complete next step.
The shoulders straps:
– Ch 14, sc 2nd ch from the hook, sc each st until the end of the chains.
– Skip next st on the lid, sc next 4 sts.
– Ch 14, sc 2nd ch from the hook, sc each st until the end of the chains.
– Sl st next st on the lid.
Do not FO. Complete next step.
Crocheting around the lid:
– *Ch 1, sl st* 3 times up the right side of the lid.
– Ch 1, sl st next each 2 sts on the top side of the lid.
– *Ch 1, sl st* 4 times down the left side of the lid.
– FO leaving about 8″ tail for sewing.
Finishing:
We’ll be sewing the lid to the backpack following these steps:
– Sew the bottom line of the lid between the last two rounds of the backpack pattern as you see in the pic.
– Continue by sewing the lower part of the shoulders straps between round two and tree of the backpack pattern.
– Close the pack opening and hold it with your fingers, put the lid over and sew it close.
– Weave in ends and you’re done!
