On the occasion of school season I decided to make these crochet rectangular pencil case. They’re easy and fun to do. You don’t have to worry about the size because you can adjust it to almost any measurements you like.

Materials:
Any kind of yarn with medium thickness with suitable crochet hook
I used 3 mm thick yarn with 4 mm crochet hook

sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet

Invisible slip stitch/Invisible join
Notes:
The pencil case is actually a rectangular that is fold in half and sewed. Adjusting the size to your liking is very easy as you’ll see.
Directions:
The pencil case:
The first row determines the width of your case. Adjust it to your liking.
Row 1: Ch 10 (last 3 ch count as dc), dc 4th chain from the hook, dc in each st. (8 dc)
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as dc), dc each st. (8 dc)
Repeat row 2 until you have double the length you want for your case because we’re going to fold it in half.
FO leaving 4 to 5″ long tail to sew the button.
Crocheting the sides:
We’ll be crocheting around the sides of the rectangular after folding it in half to close it and in the upper side to make the button loop.
Crocheting the first side:
Fold the rectangular in half. (Pic 1)
Add in the second color in the same corner you finished, not in the same st but in the space that formed by the last dc in that side. (Pic 2)
Ch 1, 2 sc in same space only you need to do it through both layers. (Pic 3)
2 sc in each dc space to close the first side. (Pic 4)
FO and weave in ends.
Crocheting the second side:
Repeat same steps in first side only we’ll be doing it in revers from down to the upper side of the case as you see in the pics.
Do not FO.
Crocheting the upper sides:
Continue working the firs upper side.
Ch 1, sc each st until you reach the end of the first side.
Ch 1, sc each st only until you reach the middle of this side.
Crochet number of chains to make a loop that will fit the button you’re using.
Continue working by making sc the rest of the sts.
Invisible slip stitch or you can use the regular one.
Finishing:
Sew the button on the firs upper side (not the one with the loop) and your pencil case is done!
