Crochet snowman, little doll for a child to play with or you can make it with fine yarn and use it as keychain or handbag accessory or even an ornament to decorate your room or house. In this pattern you can use any kind of yarn you like note that the thicker yarn you use the bigger your snowman will be. You’ll be needing three color to make the snowman, white for the head and body, orange or yellow for the nose (carrot) and a third color of your choice for the hat and scarf.

Size: Free (use thick yarn for bigger results and thin or fine yarn for smaller ones)
Materials:
Yarn any kind you like (three colors, white for the head and body, orange or yellow for the nose/carrot and a color of your choice for the hat and scarf)
For the big snowman I used 3 mm thick yarn with 5 mm hook
For the small snowman I used 1 mm thick yarn with 2 mm hook
Needle for sewing some parts and weaving in ends
Stuffing
For the eyes you can use safety eyes, doll eyes, felt fabric or even just a black yarn
Beads or buttons to decorate the body (optional)
Piece or cardboard to make the pompom
Pins (optional)
Terms:
MR – magic ring
dec – decrease
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
Special terms:
I used the invisible slip stitch at the end of the hat pattern but you can use the regular slip stitch.
Notes:
It’s easier to sew or attach the eyes, nose and beads or buttons before stuffing as shown in the pattern below.
Directions:
The snowman contain 6 pieces, the head, body, nose, scarf, hat and pompom.
The body crochet pattern:
R 1: MR, 6 sc in the ring. (6 sc)
R 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
R 3: *2 sc next st, sc next st* repeat until the end of the round. (18 sc)
R 4: *2 sc next st, sc next 2 sts* repeat until the end of the round. (24 sc)
R 5-7: Sc each st. (24 sc)
R 8: *sc dec next st, sc next 2 sts* repeat until the end of the round. (18 sc)
Attach or sew the beads or the buttons on the body, one on R 5 and the other on R 7.
R 9: *sc dec next st, sc next st* repeat until the end of the round. Stuff the body. (12 sc)
R 10: Sc dec 6 times. Sl st next st. FO. (6 sc)
The head crochet pattern:
R 1: MR, 6 sc in the ring. (6 sc)
R 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
R 3: *2 sc next st, sc next st* repeat until the end of the round. (18 sc)
R 4-6: Sc each st. (18 sc)
R 7: *sc dec next st, sc next st* repeat until the end of the round. FO leaving about 8″ long tail to sew the head to the body. (12 sc)
Attach or sew the eyes on the fourth round. I used black beads on the big snowman and black yarn on the small one.
Sew the nose (carrot) between the fifth and sixth rounds. Stuff the head.
You’ll relize the the head isn’t closed completely and that is because I found the head stays more straightly on the body this way.
The nose (carrot) crochet pattern:
Ch 4, sl st in 2nd chain from the hook, sc next 2 sts. FO leaving 4″ long tail to sew the nose to the head.
The scarf crochet pattern:
Ch 50. FO leaving 0.5″ long tail.
The hat crochet pattern:
R 1: MR, 6 sc in the ring. (6 sc)
R 2: 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
R 3: *2 sc next st, sc next st* repeat until the end of the round. (18 sc)
R 4-7: Sc each st. Sl st at the end of round 7. FO leaving 8″ long tail if you want sew the hat to the head. If you want to leave the hat unattached to the head just weave in ends.
The pompom:

Finishing:
Use the pins to pin the head to the body then sew it together.
If you haven’t already done so, attach or sew the eyes, nose, beads or buttons as shown in the pattern above.
Sew the hat to the head if you want to.
Wrap the scarf two times around the snowman neck then make a knot.
