For crochet granny lovers, today I’m sharing this crochet granny octagons. It’s really beautiful and looks like tiles. I added a small square pattern to use it between each four octagons.

Materials
Any kind of yarn with suitable crochet hook

MR – Magic ring
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
C st – Cluster stitch (we’ll be using 3 dc cluster and 2 dc cluster)
Special terms
Invisible slip stitch/Invisible join at the end of each granny (optional)
Notes
We’ll using 3 dc cluster in the granny octagons and 2 dc cluster in the granny squares.
There’ll be one small granny square between each 4 granny octagons.
Directions
Granny octagons
Rnd 1: MR, 8 sc in the ring, sl st first sc. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc C same st, ch 3, *3 dc C, ch 3* repeat until the end of the round, sl st first C. (8 C)
Rnd 3: Sl st next ch sp, ch 2 (does not count as st), 5 dc same ch sp, 5 dc in each of next ch sps, sl st in first dc. (40 dc)
Rnd 4: Ch 2 (does not count as st), dc same st, ch 1, skip next st, [dc, ch 2, dc] next st, ch 1, skip next st, dc next st,
*dc, ch 1, skip next st, [dc, ch 2, dc] next st, ch 1, skip next st, dc next st* repeat until the end of the round, sl st in first dc. (32 dc)
Rnd 5: Sl st next ch sp, ch 2 (does not count as st), 3 dc same ch sp, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] next ch sp, 3 dc next ch sp,
*3 dc next ch sp, [2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc] next ch sp, 3 dc next ch sp* repeat until the end of the round, sl st first dc or use the invisible sl st. FO and weave in ends. (80 dc)
Small granny square
Rnd 1: MR, 8 sc in the ring, sl st first sc. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc same st, ch 3, *2 dc C next st, ch 3* repeat until the end of the round, sl st in first dc.
Rnd 3: Sl st next ch sp, ch 1, 4 hdc same ch sp, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] next ch sp, *4 hdc next ch sp, [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] next ch sp* repeat until the end of the round, sl st in first hdc or use the invisible sl st. FO and weave in ends.
Joining the grannies
You need one square between each 4 octagons and one square between each two on the outside edges as you see in the pics.
You can use as many grannies as you like to make the desired size of your blanket or throw.
