Crochet National Emblem of Saudi Arabia

Next  23 September we will be celebrating the Saudi National Day, that’s why I decided to design the national emblem of Saudi Arabia which contain a palm tree and two clashing swords.

Size: Free

Materials:

Any kind of yarn with suitable crochet hook, note that the thicker your yarn the bigger your work will be.
I used 1 mm thick cotton yarn/thread with 2 mm crochet hook
Needle

Terms:

MR – Magic ring
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
sc2tog – 2 single crochet together

Notes:

The pattern contains 3 pieces, the palm tree and two swords.
The right sword’s pattern is a little bit different from the left one.

Directions:

Palm tree:
Don’t FO until the end of the palm tree pattern.
The center of the tree: MR, 8 sc in the ring.
First right branch: Sl st next st, ch 8, sl st 2nd ch from the hook, sl st, sc, 2 sc, sc, sl st, sl st.
Second right branch: Same steps as the first one.
Third right branch: Same steps as the first one.
The upper branch: Sl st next st, ch 6, sl st 2nd ch from the hook, sl st, sc, sl st, sl st.
First left branch: Sl st next st, ch 9, sl st 2nd ch from the hook, sl st, sc, sc2tog, sc, sl st, sl st.
Second left branch: Same steps as the first one.
Third left branch: Same steps as the first one.
The trunk: Sl st next st, ch 8, sl st 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each ch. Sl st to close your work. FO.

The right sword:
Don’t FO until the end of the sword pattern.
The blade: Ch 26, sl st 2nd ch from the hook, sl st, sc each of next 2 sts, sc2tog, sc each of next 3 sts, sc2tog, sc next of each 10 sts.

The grip:
Ch 4, 2 sc 2nd ch from the hook, sl st next 2 sts.
Now we’ll be working in the remaining chains from the blade. Sl st next 3 sts, 4 sc last sts.
Now we’ll be working in the other side of the chains. Sl st next 3 sts.
Ch 4, 2 sc 2nd ch from the hook, sl st next 2 sts.
FO and sew the tail to the blade.

The left sword:
Don’t FO until the end of the sword pattern.
The blade: Ch 24, sl st 2nd ch from the hook, sl st, sc each of next 2 sts, 2 sc, sc each of next 3 sts, 2 sc, sc next of each 10 sts.
The grip:
Ch 4, 2 sc 2nd ch from the hook, sl st next 2 sts.
Now we’ll be working in the remaining chains from the blade. Sl st next 3 sts, 4 sc last sts.
Now we’ll be working in the other side of the chains. Sl st next 3 sts.
Ch 4, 2 sc 2nd ch from the hook, sl st next 2 sts.
FO and sew the tail to the blade.

Finishing:

Attach your final project to any surface you like using the needle with the tail or use a glue, whichever work better for you and your project.
