Notes
In the rows that has bubbles we’ll be hiding the unused yarn between the stitches not behind the work, like we do in tapestry.
Make sure to change color in clean way (link).
You can adjust the size by adding more starting chains and rows.
We can make bubbles in several colors but note that each rows of bubbles have the same color.
Crochet Colored Bubble Stitch
Directions
R 1: Using main color, start with number of chains multiple of 6 + 3, sc 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each st.
R 2 – 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.
R 4: Before you start this row add in the bubble color but keep it hidden between the stitches until you need it. *Working with main color, sc in each of next 5 sts, change to bubble color and make one bubble next st* repeat until you have only 2 sts, sc in each one of them. (Make sure to hide the yarn you’re not using between the stitches in this row).
R 5 – 7: Use the main color and leave the bubble color aside without hiding it this time. Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.
R 8: Before you start this row add in the bubble color but keep it hidden between the stitches until you need it. Working with main color, sc in each of next 2 sts, *change to bubble color and make one bubble next st, change to main color, sc in each of next 5 sts* repeat until the end of row. (Make sure to hide the yarn you’re not using between the stitches in this row).
R 9 – 11: Repeat row 5.
Remaining rows: Repeat from row 4 to 11 until you have the size you like. FO and weave in all ends.
