I finally made the crochet square hat. I’ve always find it really cute and different and wanted to try it for myself. So here it is, hope you like it.

Materials
Medium to thick yarn with suitable crochet hook
Needle
Pom pom (optional)
Terms
MR – Magic ring
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
Notes
Make sure of the hat’s size as you go and before FO.
You can add in two balls of pom pom to the pointed tips on top or add in decorations at the brim for more mature look.
Directions
Rnd 1: Crochet an even number of chains the size of the head circumference, sl sts first ch, ch 3 (dc), dc in each ch, sl st 3rd ch. Check the size before you complete.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc same st, *skip next st, sc, ch* repeat until you have one st left, sc last st, ch 1, sl st first sc.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, *sc next ch sp, ch 1* repeat until the end of the round. (there is no sl st to join)
From now on we’ll crochet continuance rounds without joining with sl st at the end of each round.
Rnd 4: *Sc next ch sp, ch 1* repeat until the end.
Remaining rounds: Repeat round 4 until you have the full length of your hat. Do not FO.
Closing the hat
We’ll close the hat be crocheting single crochet along side the upper edge working through two layers.
Fold the hat in half and work through two layers.
Work sc in each ch sp until the end of the row.
Sc in last st making sure it’s through two layers.
Check the hat’s size before you FO.
FO and weave in ends.
Add in the pom pom or the decorations circles (pattern below).
Decoration circles
Rnd 1: MR, 12 sc in the ring.
Rnd 2: *Sl st next st, ch 1* repeat until the end. Sl st to join.
FO leaving long tail for sewing.
