For headband lovers, today we’ve this unique crochet braided headband. It’s resizable and can be made we almost any kind of medium to thick yarn you normally use for headbands and hats.

Medium to thick yarn with suitable crochet hook

Notes
You’ll notice that this pattern contain large loops, when inserting them in each other we’ll end up with a nice braid.
After finishing the headband and joining the sides, we’ll crochet around the upper and lower edges using single crochet stitch for nicer look.
Directions
Row 1: Ch 7, hdc 2nd ch from the hook, hdc in each of next 2 chs, ch 10, sl st in 10th ch from the hook, hdc in each of next 3 chs.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each of next 3 sts, 18 sc in next ch sp. To close this large loop follow next steps:
* Pull out the hook form the working loop (pic 1)
* Insert the hook through the first sc then in the working loop we left before (pic 2)
* Pull the working loop through the sc (pic 3)
Complete the row by working hdc in each of next 3 sts.
Row 3: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each of next 3 sts, ch 10, sl st in 10th ch from the hook, hdc in each of next 3 sts. (Make sure the large sc loop from row 2 is on the back of the work when you crochet row 3)
Remaining rows: Repeat row 2 and 3 alternately until you have the size you like. Do not FO.
To close the headband, fold it in half placing the beginning and ending edges together, ch 1, sl st through both layers to join. Do not FO. (6 sl st)

Crocheting around the edges
Make sure the RS is facing you, ch 1, crochet sc around the upper edge evenly until the end, sl st in first sc or use the invisible sl st. FO and weave in end.
Join a new yarn to any st in the other edge and repeat same steps. FO and weave in end.
Making the braid
Insert the second loop through the first one, then insert the third loop through the second one, then insert the forth loop through the third one, repeat these steps until the last loop. Secure the last loop by sewing or attaching a suitable button. You’re done!
