This week’s pattern is very unique and I’ve been trying to design it for years. When I learned the bubble stitch I realized that it could be used in this pattern. Today’s pattern will be crochet dominoes using the bubble stitch.

Any kind of yarn you like with suitable crochet hook (two colors)

sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
B st – Bubble st
Notes
In this pattern I’ll be sharing how to crochet the 4/3 domino. The rest of the dominoes will be shared later in a PDF file with the diagram.
Each domino will contain 3 layers, top, middle and bottom. We’ll be joining those layers later using sc around the edges.
Directions
Bottom layer
We’ll be using single crochet to make this layer, no bubble stitch or ch spaces. Use color number 1.
R 1: Ch 8, sc 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each st. (7 sc)
R 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st. (7 sc)
R 3 – 17: Repeat R 2. FO.
Middle layer
This layer will have the bubble stitch and we’ll be using color number 2.
R 1: Ch 8, sc 2nd ch from the hook, sc in each st.
R 2: Ch 1, turn, sc, bubble st, sc in each of next 3 sts, bubble st, sc.
R 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st.
R 4 – 5: Repeat R 3
R 6: Repeat R 2
R 7 – 11: Repeat R 3
R 12: Ch 1, turn, sc, bubble st, sch in each of next sts until the end of the row.
R 13: Repeat R 3
R14: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 3 sts, bubble st, sc in each of next 3 sts.
R 15: Repeat R 3
R 16: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 5 sts, bubble st, sc.
R 17: Repeat R 3. FO.
Top layer
This layer will contain chain spaces instead of the bubbles. Use color number 1.
To make this layer repeat same steps as the middle layer but replace each bubble st with [ch 2] (Or ch 3 if ch 2 is not wide enough). FO at the end.
Joining
Place the layers in order and make sure the bubbles are facing up.
Pull the bubbles through the chain spaces of the top layer.
Start joining the layers by using single crochet around using one loop of each layer.
Make a 3 sc increase in each corner.
Use color number 2 to sew a line in the middle of the domino.
FO and weave in ends.
