Materials
If we’re using cotton blend yarn we need three strands together and if we’re using 100% polyester we’ll need 6 strands.
You’ll need larger size for the hook but not too large to that makes gapes and loose stitches.

Directions
I used this pattern to make the pen holders you see in the pics. You might need to increase the number rounds for the base and make as much rounds for the sides to match the size you like.
First pen holder
I used three strands of cotton blend yarn. Three colors, one strand of each.
Second pen holder
I used three strands of cotton blend yarn. In the beginning I used one strand of each color then I used three strands of the same color to make the color blocks.
Third pen holder
I used 6 strands of 100% polyester yarn. In the beginning I used two colors, 3 strands of each. Then used 6 strands of the same color.
