I finally made this crochet square basket that I wanted to try long time ago. I used the knit stitch to make it and it’s not the only basket I used this stitch with. It’s really fun to make and has a unique shape.

T-shirt yarn with 12 mm crochet hook

Needle with suitable size
Terms:
MR – Magic ring
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
sc – single crochet
BL – back loop only
Special terms:
Invisible slip stitch/Invisible join (at the end of pattern)
Crochet knit stitch (see the vid and pics in this page to learn how to crochet knit stitch)
Special slip stitch (we’ll use it at the end of each round)
Revers slip stitch (we’ll use it one time)
Notes:
You can make this basket any size you like.
Do not FO until the end of the pattern.
Do not turn unless specified (we’ll turn two times only in this pattern).
Special slip stitch
Special Slip Stitch
The special slip stitch is made at the end of each round during crocheting the last knit stitch.
To make the last knit stitch with the special slip stitch follow the directions below:
* Start making the knit stitch as you usually do. Insert the hook, yarn over, pull through. (you’ve two loops on the hook, pic 1)
* Insert the hook in the FL of next stitch. (you’ve three loops on the hook, pic 2).
* Yarn over, pull through all three loops on the hook. (pic 3)
* You’re done with the last knit stitch and the special slip stitch.
Directions:
The base
Rnd 1: MR, 8 sc, special sl st with last sc. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: *3 knit st, knit st* repeat until the end, special sl st with last st. (16 knit st)
Rnd 3: Knit st, 3 knit st, *knit st in each of next 3 sts, 3 knit st* repeat three times, knit st in each of next 2 sts, special sl st with last st. (24 knit st)
Rnd 4: Knit st in each of next 2 sts, 3 knit st, *knit st in each of next 5 sts, 3 knit st* repeat tree times, knit st in each of next 3 sts, special sl st with last st. (32 knit st)
Remaining rounds: You can stop here or complete same steps by working knit st in each st and 3 knit st in each of the 4 angles. Do not make a special sl st at the end of last round.

We’ll make this stitch one time at the end of last round of the base.
* At the end of last stitch of the base, remove the hook and leave it for a bit. (pies 1, 2)
* Turn your work making the wrong side towards you. (pic 3)
* Insert the hook in both loops of the stitch on the right side of the loose loop. (pic 4)
* Using your finger insert the loose loop in the hook. (pic 5)
* Using the hook, pull the loop through toward you. (pic 6)
* Do not turn. Complete with sides directions.
The sides
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sl st each st around until the end of the round.
Rnd 2: Turn bringing the right side towards you again. Ch 1, sc in each st around, special sl st with last sc.
Rnd 3: Knit st in each st around, special sl st with last st.
Remaining rounds: Repeat same round 3 steps until you’ve the size you like.
Last round (optional): Sl st FL of each sts until the end. Invisible sl st after last st. FO and weave in ends.
