Notes
* W’ll be using same pattern as the cluster stitch doily except we’ll have one chain after each puff stitch instead of two.
* W’ll YO 3 times to make each puff stitch in this pattern.
* We’ll start each new round with 3 chains that does not count as stitch.
Directions
Rnd 1: MR, ch 3 (does not count as st), *puff stitch, ch 1* repeat 6 times, sl st in first puff stitch. (6 puff stitch)
Rnd 2: Sl st next ch sp, ch 3 (does not count as st), [puff stitch, ch 1] twice in same ch sp, [puff stitch ch 1] twice in each ch sp around, sl st in first puff stitch. (12 puff stitch)
Rnd 3: Sl st next ch sp, ch 3 (does not count as st), [puff stitch, ch 1] twice in same ch sp, puff stitch, ch 1 next ch sp,
*[puff stitch ch 1] twice next ch sp , puff stitch, ch 1 next ch sp* repeat until the end, sl st in first puff stitch. (18 puff stitch)
Rnd 4: Sl st next ch sp, ch 3 (does not count as st), [puff stitch, ch 1] twice in same ch sp, puff stitch, ch 1 in each of 2 next ch sps,
*[puff stitch ch 1] twice next ch sp , puff stitch, ch 1 in each of 2 next ch sps* repeat until the end, sl st in first puff stitch. (24 puff stitch)
Rnd 5: Sl st next ch sp, ch 3 (does not count as st), [puff stitch, ch 1] twice in same ch sp, puff stitch, ch 1 in each of 3 next ch sps,
*[puff stitch ch 1] twice next ch sp , puff stitch, ch 1 in each of 3 next ch sps* repeat until the end, sl st in first puff stitch. (30 puff stitch)
Rnd 6: Sl st next ch sp, ch 3 (does not count as st), [puff stitch, ch 1] twice in same ch sp, puff stitch, ch 1 in each of 4 next ch sps,
*[puff stitch ch 1] twice next ch sp , puff stitch, ch 1 in each of 4 next ch sps* repeat until the end, sl st in first puff stitch. (36 puff stitch)
Remaining rounds: Repeat same steps increasing 6 puff stitches in each round.
Edging
You can use any decorative stitch in last round if you like. For example, shell stitch or picot stitch or just a simple single crochet as shown at the end of this link.
